The Combating Autism Reauthorization Act of 2011 (CARA) was introduced by Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY) as S. 1094 in the Senate and Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Congressman Mike Doyle (D-PA) in the House as H.R. 2005 on May 26, 2011. The purpose of CARA is to reauthorize the landmark Combating Autism Act of 2006 (CAA), significantly increasing both the depth and breadth of the federal response to the national and public health emergency posed by autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Please send an email to your U.S. Senators and urge their support for CARA. If your Senator or Congressmember is a cosponsor, please send them an email to thank them for signing onto the bill and demonstrating their leadership on this important legislation.
